The competition as part of a comprehensive promotion concept
The competition's objective is to discover and promote the talents of young musicians at an early age as well as to offer the chance of experience and interchange on an international basis. The pieces chosen for the Competition are of great significance. Young players shall become acquainted with the important works of violin literature. They are asked to study and interpret pieces of various musical epochs and genres. We want this process to be a pleasurable experience without overstraining. The programme of our competition meets this claim and combines it with the violin repertory's variety while allowing great freedom in the selection of works.
Intelligent jury regulations guarantee equal treatment of all participants. They provide jury members with judging criteria that allow for impartial artistic-pedagogical judgement.
The advice given by the jury - internationally known artists and teachers - is considered to be of great importance and crucial for the young players' progress and is therefore highly demanded.
The competetion in Kloster Schöntal is part of a comprehensive promotion programme for young talents. Artistic director Petru Munteanu (Academy of Music and Theater Hamburg and Rostock) has created a system of complementing promotion activities. This includes especially the annual international masterclasses at Kloster Schöntal, concert opportunities during the festival "Hohenloher Kultursommer" as well as concerts of the CONCERTINO ensemble.
Thanks to Kulturstiftung Hohenlohe - a foundation supporting art and artists - and Hohenloher Kultursommer, prize-winners have opportunities to show their talents in concerts given beyond the competition's time frame. Promotion activities for both participants and prize-winners continue during the annual masterclasses. They study works of violin literature together with professionally versed artists and teachers and also gain stage experience during evening presentations and public concerts. The CONCERTINO ensemble can be seen as a "product" of both the competition and the masterclasses.
Individual promotion activities are considered to be the key areas of support. They take place either direct or through coordination between locally working colleagues. Activities include counselling, arrangement of scholarships and placements at musical colleges or academies, provision of quality instruments or the organization of additional concerts.

Both the location as well as the social programme that accompanies the competition provide various possibilities for intensive interchange between the young musicians coming from different countries, their parents, teachers and members of the jury.
